This tool provides a simple way to stretch carpet across the stair tread and form it around the stair nosing. Hook the gripper teeth in the carpet just ahead of the stair nosing, then pull the leverage handle down. A pulling action is generated on the teeth that stretches the carpet across the stair tread. This thread is three ply waxed 100% polyester hand stitching thread that is wound on a plastic bobbin. The wax coating helps the thread pass smoothly through the carpet that is being sewn. The color is natural (beige) which normally is similar to the color of the carpet's backing. Polyester thread is economical, but it may stretch more in comparison to our linen thread (No. 771).
