This cutter excels on zigzag ("hydra-shift") carpets including commercial loop pile and Berbers! The blade runs directly behind the center row guide. This keeps the blade away from the offset yarns, preventing yarns from being sheared, which causes unsightly seams. The wide base keeps the blade perpendicular to the yarns, further reducing nap shear. The row guide can be retracted fully into the base for top cutting. Crain 290 Seam Cutter Plus

When used with utility or Crain No. 300Y blades, the blade angle cuts from the carpet's backing to prevent shearing and wadding up of yarns. Steel springs on both sides of the cutter hold the carpet down as it is being cut. Large thumb knob allows simple, fast blade changes.

Crain 300 Loop Pile Cutter

Includes a pack of 10 replacement blades for the Crain No. 300 Loop Pile Cutter. These blades have two holes for a blade holding screw on early models of the No. 300 (black plastic body), but also work in later models of this cutter. When used in the No. 300, these blades cut the carpet from the backing, reducing the shearing of yarns and wadding up of carpet in the cutter. The two screw holes make these blades reversible for added life. These blades come in a plastic box with a hinged lid that snaps closed for storage. Blade dimensions: length: 2.31", width: .75", thickness: .025".

The rounded notches on the front guide help this cutter find rows in difficult carpets including Berbers, hydrashift, and commercial level loop. Takes standard slotted razor blades. The offset blade clamp allows fast blade depth adjustment and blade changes.
